2 Friends; 12 months; 1 vision – creating an incredible watch
We met a couple of years ago working on the V1-X and have become good friends. During the first Swiss lockdown back in 2020, we decided to create a new watch and kicked off an exciting journey during which we overcame big challenges, tried out new technologies, made new friends and had the chance to bring in some light in a time plagued by the global pandemic.
This is the story of two friends building a new chapter in VAULT`s history and having a lot of fun in the process. Enjoy the ride 😊

We kicked off project RCT back in May 2020 with three clear objectives:
The two of us don’t like to just stick to what has been done in the past. We wanted to challenge the status quo, innovate, and explore new directions. It doesn’t make life easier but rather a life worthwhile.
Project RCT would lead to a stealthy watch by day and a showstopper by night. A watch that Bruce Wayne could wear at a business meeting in the afternoon and while chasing the Joker as Batman by night.
Last but not least, we wanted to have a lot of fun in the process, which (spoiler alert) we had 😊
PASSION & LOVE
DO WHAT YOU DO WITH PASSION AND LOVE
From the get-go, we were committed to giving the RCT lots of personality. Therefore, we decided to engrave the movement main plate with a heart representing Albert’s life motto to do what you do with passion and love. As Albert belongs to the straight edge movement, which is about living a sober and positive life, we added an X-engraving to the plate as well, which was engraved by our friend and watchmaker Marc Jenni.
In line with the stealthy look we wanted to achieve, the brass main plate was rhodium plated by Marc Jenni and beautifully sandblasted giving the engraving a strong contrast.

SWIMMING AGAINST THE CURRENT
We didn’t go down the obvious route when talking about the strap either. We knew that we were looking for something a bit different, which would fit into the overall concept and at the same time express our desire to make it a status-quo-challenging statement. We therefore opted for a blend of salmon skin on the top side adorned with an 18k red-gold stitching and accompanied by stonewashed ostrich leg leather on the backside. The materials are not only beautiful and comfortable but also sustainable and showcase that we would rather move away from alligator and snakeskin. Once again we had the pleasure of working together with our master strap maker Mirea Marian who did a fantastic job in handcrafting the strap to the specific wrist circumference of Albert.

STRIVING TO CREATE THE WORLD`S MOST PERSONAL WATCHES
The exquisite VAULT V2+ RCT took over 12 months from inception to completion. It encompasses all we believe in and showcases our extreme dedication to overcoming whatever challenges we face to create one of the world’s most personal watches for those watch collectors who dare to be different and are ready to unfollow the herd.
We make the development process accessible for our collectors and by doing so take them on a unique horological journey.
